Antonio Orgiani

Dr Antonio Orgiani is Head of the C.O.R.A.G. team, Orthopaedic Reconstructive and Arthroscopic Knee Surgery, at IRCCS Ospedale Galeazzi-Sant’Ambrogio.

He graduated in Medicine and Surgery in 2003 from Alma Mater Studiorum – University of Bologna, with a thesis dedicated to anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction in athletes. He obtained his specialisation in Orthopaedics and Traumatology with honours in 2008 from the same university, completing his specialist training at the Rizzoli Orthopaedic Institute in Bologna.

From 2009 to 2011, he worked as a medical director in the Orthopaedics and Traumatology Unit of “Vito Fazzi” Hospital in Lecce, gaining experience in orthopaedic and trauma surgery within the public hospital setting.

In 2011, he joined Istituto Clinico Humanitas in Rozzano as a fellow, where he continued his activity until July 2026, progressively developing superspecialist training through several units dedicated to shoulder and elbow surgery, reconstructive and arthroscopic knee surgery, knee surgery and sports traumatology and, finally, minimally invasive hip and knee replacement surgery, where he was the referent for knee arthroscopy activity.

This pathway defines Dr Orgiani’s main areas of expertise: on one hand, arthroscopic and reconstructive knee surgery, with particular reference to ligament, meniscal and cartilage disorders; on the other, primary and revision knee and hip replacement surgery, also through computer-assisted planning and robot-assisted techniques.

Dr Orgiani deals with:

• reconstructive surgery of the anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments, complex and multiligament instabilities and patellofemoral disorders;
• meniscal surgery, with meniscus preservation and repair techniques;
• treatment of cartilage lesions;
• knee replacement surgery, from unicompartmental replacement to total replacement and revision surgery;
• minimally invasive hip replacement surgery, with preoperative planning and computer-assisted and robot-assisted planning technologies;
• sports traumatology, with management of professional and competitive athletes and attention to functional recovery and return to sports activity;
• infiltrative therapies and autologous orthobiological treatments.

He is the author and co-author of scientific publications in indexed journals and has participated in clinical studies, multicentre works and consensus documents in various areas of orthopaedic and trauma surgery, including ligament surgery and athlete traumatology, tendon and muscle disorders and hip surgery. He has also contributed to chapters in international specialist textbooks. He has been a member of the Faculty Under 45 of the Italian Society of Arthroscopy and of the Faculties of the ACL and Patellofemoral Committees of S.I.A.G.A.S.C.O.T., and regularly participates in national and international congresses and scientific meetings of the main orthopaedic scientific societies.
