Davide Catarinella

Dr. Davide Catarinella is an internal medicine physician at the Regenerative Medicine and Transplant Unit of IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele.

In 2016, he graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the “G. d’Annunzio” University of Chieti and, in 2023, he specialized in Internal Medicine at Vita-Salute San Raffaele University, both with highest honors.

He works as a medical assistant within the Regenerative Medicine and Transplant Unit, carrying out inpatient clinical activity.

Dr. Catarinella manages patients across all phases of kidney, pancreas, and pancreatic islet transplantation, from pre-transplant evaluation to post-transplant follow-up and the management of potential complications.

He also cares for patients with complex internal medicine conditions.

He is the clinical lead for the pancreatic islet transplantation program and also performs outpatient activity in diabetology.

His research activity focuses on transplant medicine and diabetology, with particular interest in pancreatic and islet transplantation, metabolic outcomes and graft function assessment, comparison of different transplant strategies in type 1 diabetes, and metabolic and immunological complications in transplant patients.
