السيرة الذاتية

Dr. Federica Cipriani is a specialist in Digestive System Surgery, currently working in the Hepatobiliary Surgery Unit of IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele.

She also holds the position of researcher at Vita-Salute San Raffaele University, where she regularly carries out teaching activities within the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery.

After graduating with honors in Medicine and Surgery from Vita-Salute San Raffaele University in 2009, she specialized in 2016 at the same university, complementing her specialist training with a fellowship in minimally invasive hepatobiliary surgery in the United Kingdom.

From a clinical perspective, Dr. Cipriani’s activity is focused on the diagnosis and treatment of hepatic and biliary tumors, such as hepatocellular carcinoma, cholangiocarcinoma, and liver metastases. Regarding benign diseases, she manages conditions such as gallbladder and bile duct stones, hepatic cysts, polycystic liver disease, adenomas, and hemangiomas. She is also a member of multidisciplinary teams for the integrated management of these conditions, both oncological and non-oncological.

She has gained surgical experience with more than 800 hepatobiliary procedures and regularly performs both open and minimally invasive surgeries, including minor and major liver resections (both anatomical and parenchyma-sparing), fenestrations and pericystectomies, biliary resections with bilio-digestive anastomosis, locoregional lymphadenectomies, cholecystectomies, and liver biopsies.

With regard to scientific research, Dr. Cipriani focuses on the technical, oncological, and quality aspects of resective surgery for liver and biliary diseases. In addition, she is involved in studying the application of artificial intelligence in predicting oncological outcomes of liver tumor surgery and in improving surgical approaches for benign diseases.

She has contributed as an expert member to the development and drafting of several national and international guidelines in the field of hepatobiliopancreatic and oncological surgery. She also carries out teaching activities in several specialized courses in liver surgery, including the National School of Minimally Invasive Liver Surgery. Finally, Dr. Cipriani holds institutional roles in scientific societies in the field and has received several awards and recognitions for the value of her scientific contributions presented at surgical society congresses.
