Dr. Federico Boniardi is a clinical nutritionist at the Endocrinology Unit and the Clinical Nutrition and Cardiometabolic Prevention Service at IRCCS Policlinico San Donato.

After earning his degree in Medicine and Surgery in 2019 from the University of Insubria in Varese, he completed his specialization in Food Science in 2025 at the University of Milan, graduating with top marks and honors.

His clinical practice focuses on the prevention and nutritional and pharmacological treatment of obesity, with particular attention to abdominal obesity and its cardiometabolic complications.

He manages type 2 diabetes and hepatic steatosis, developing targeted therapeutic strategies to improve patients' health and quality of life. He also treats thyroid disorders such as hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism and is involved in the diagnosis and treatment of osteoporosis.

In terms of research, his work focuses on the prevention and treatment of obesity, particularly abdominal obesity, and on the endocrine role of visceral adipose tissue in related cardiometabolic complications. He also studies the effectiveness of incretin-mimetic drugs – including GLP1-RA, GIP-RA, and GCG-RA – in preventing and treating cardiometabolic diseases, with specific attention to their impact on epicardial and pericoronary fat.
