Dr. Giordano Beretta is Senior Consultant of the Oncology Unit at Policlinico San Marco.
In 1983 he graduated with honors in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Milan, where in 1986 he specialized, also with honors, in Oncology.
During his career, Dr. Beretta’s clinical activity has focused on the treatment of neoplasms, particularly gastrointestinal cancers and geriatric oncology.
He directed the Gastrointestinal Oncology Section of the Ospedali Riuniti of Bergamo from 2003 to 2006. He was Director of the Medical Oncology Division of the Fatebenefratelli Hospital in Brescia from 2006 to 2010, Head of Medical Oncology at Humanitas Gavazzeni in Bergamo from 2010 to 2022, and Director of Medical Oncology at the Pescara Hospital from 2022 to 31/12/2025. At the same institution he also served as Director of the Oncology-Hematology Department of the ASL 03 of Pescara.
He is a member of several scientific societies, including AIOM (Italian Association of Medical Oncology), ESMO (European Society for Medical Oncology) and ASCO (American Society of Clinical Oncology).
Within AIOM he has held several regional and national roles since 1999 and served as National President from 2019 to 2021 and as President of the AIOM Foundation from 2021 to 2023 (during which the Foundation played an important role in the approval of the law on the Right to Oncological Oblivion – Law No. 193/2023).
He served as coordinator of the Task Force for colorectal cancer guidelines from 2002 to 2019.
Dr. Beretta also holds important institutional roles: he is Vice President of FOCE (Confederation of Oncologists, Cardiologists and Hematologists) and served as Clinical Coordinator of the ROR Abruzzo (Regional Oncology Network) until 31/12/2025.
He is author and co-author of more than 150 publications in international scientific journals, 10 book chapters and over 200 abstracts.
He has also carried out teaching activities in oncology at several specialization schools in Lombardy.
