Jan Walter Schroeder

Dr. Jan Walter Schroeder is an allergist and immunologist and serves as Coordinator of Allergology within the Immunology, Rheumatology, Allergology and Rare Diseases Unit at IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele.
He graduated in Medicine and Surgery in 1985 from the University of Milan, where he subsequently obtained his specialization in Gastroenterology and Digestive Endoscopy in 1989 and in Allergology and Clinical Immunology in 1992.
Over the course of his career, he has gained significant clinical experience also at Ospedale Niguarda, working in inpatient wards, Day Hospital and outpatient settings, with a predominant focus on allergology and immunology. In this context, he contributed to the establishment of the Drug Hypersensitivity Center.
From 2014 to 2026, he served as Adjunct Professor at the School of Specialization in Allergology at the University of Milan.
For over 30 years, he has been dedicated to immuno-allergic diseases, with particular interest in eosinophilic disorders, including:

eosinophilic esophagitis
He is also involved in the study and management of food allergies, including LTP syndrome and anaphylaxis, atopic dermatitis, and drug hypersensitivity reactions, using diagnostic skin tests and drug tolerance testing with alternative medications.
His clinical activity also includes the use of advanced therapies such as:

He has participated in and is actively involved in numerous clinical trials, also as Principal Investigator, in areas including:

He has also been the scientific lead of multi-regional pharmacovigilance projects in the Lombardy Region, including REACT and GRESIF.
He participates in the international RegiSCAR registry for severe cutaneous adverse drug reactions and is a member of the Regional Vaccine Commission as an immunologist.
He is a member of the National Board of the Italian Society of Allergology, Asthma and Clinical Immunology and Coordinator of the Regional Allergy Network.
