Professor Lorenzo Dagna is Head of the Immunology, Rheumatology, Allergology and Rare Diseases Unit at IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele and collaborates with Casa di Cura La Madonnina. He is Full Professor of Internal Medicine at Vita-Salute San Raffaele University in Milan.
He graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Milan and subsequently specialized in Internal Medicine at Vita-Salute San Raffaele University. From 2005 to 2008, he further advanced his training as the recipient of two research fellowships in the field of autoimmune and inflammatory diseases.
Professor Dagna’s clinical activity focuses on the management of patients with immunological and rheumatological diseases, with a particular interest in rare immune-mediated conditions. His current research interests are primarily directed toward the pathogenesis and the development of advanced and innovative therapies for immune-mediated diseases, as well as the prevention and treatment of complications related to cancer immunotherapy. His scientific contributions have been published in leading indexed journals, including The New England Journal of Medicine, Annals of Internal Medicine, Annals of the Rheumatic Diseases, Arthritis and Rheumatology, Journal of Clinical Oncology, and Frontiers in Immunology, among others.
Lorenzo Dagna is a member of the American College of Physicians (ACP), Honorary Fellow of the European Federation of Internal Medicine (EFIM), and a member of the European Vasculitis Society (EUVAS), the Italian Society of Internal Medicine (SIMI), the Italian Society of Rheumatology (SIR), and the Italian Society of Allergology, Asthma and Clinical Immunology (SIAAIC). He serves as Editor for Immunology and Rheumatology for the European Journal of Internal Medicine (Elsevier, Amsterdam).
Professor Dagna is Chair of the Rare Diseases Working Group of the European Federation of Internal Medicine (EFIM), a member of the European Commission Expert Group on Rare Diseases (Luxembourg), an alternate member of the Healthcare Professionals Working Party of the European Medicines Agency (EMA, London), a Board member of the Foundation for the Development of Internal Medicine in Europe (FDIME, Geneva), a member of the Scientific Committee of the Erdheim-Chester Global Alliance (DeRidder, LA), and a member of the Multidisciplinary Joint Committee on Rare and Undiagnosed Diseases of the European Union of Medical Specialists (UEMS).
In the field of Internal Medicine and Clinical Immunology, he has received 14 awards from national and international scientific societies.
