Professor Luigi Ferini-Strambi is Head of the Sleep Medicine Center at IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele. He is also Full Professor of Neurology at the Faculty of Psychology of Vita-Salute San Raffaele University in Milan.
His educational path began with a degree in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Milan, followed by specialization in Neurology at the same university. In 1984, he undertook a research period in the United States as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Sleep Disorders and Research Center of the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.
Since 1988, he has held the position of Medical Director and Head of the Sleep Medicine Center until 1998. Subsequently, he collaborated on several occasions with the Sleep Disorders Center of Stanford University in Palo Alto, California. From 2006 to February 2015, he was Associate Professor of General Psychology at Vita-Salute San Raffaele University in Milan.
Author of 334 scientific articles published in indexed journals and numerous chapters in national and international books, he is very active in the field of research, as demonstrated by his high H-Index score, equal to 64 (Scopus) and 77 (Google Scholar). He is also Field Editor of the journal Sleep Medicine and Associate Editor of the Journal of Alzheimer's Disease, as well as a member of the Editorial Board of the journals Sleep Disorders, Behavioral Neurology and Journal of Neurology, important international scientific journals.
Past President of the World Association of Sleep Medicine and of the Italian Association of Sleep Medicine, Professor Ferini-Strambi is currently a member of several Scientific Societies, including the European Sleep Research Society, the European Academy of Neurology and the American Academy of Sleep Disorders.
