Dr. Marco Locatelli is a psychiatrist and Head of the Functional Unit within the Mood Disorders Unit at IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele Turro in Milan.

He graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Milan in 1987, where he later specialized in Psychiatry in 1991.

Since 2003, he has been a contract lecturer at the School of Specialization in Psychiatry at Università Vita-Salute San Raffaele.

In 1992, after completing his medical degree and psychiatric specialization, he spent six months abroad at the Neurophysiology Laboratory of the Department of Neurology at the Rutgers University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, where he worked on neurophysiology applied to psychiatric disorders.

In 1993, after returning from the United States, he continued his clinical research activity in anxiety disorders and obsessive-compulsive disorder at IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele Turro, where in the same year he was appointed Medical Director in the Psychiatry 2 Department.

In June 1994, he was appointed Head of Functional Unit at IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele Turro. In this role, he initially worked in the Anxiety Disorders and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder Unit, and later in the General Psychiatry Department.

Dr. Locatelli carries out both outpatient activity and inpatient clinical work in the Depression and Bipolar Disorder Department at IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele Turro, with particular attention to:

  • complex cases associated with anxiety
  • obsessive-compulsive disorder
  • behavioral addictions

He actively participates in research groups testing innovative pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatmentsfor anxiety disorders and mood disorders.
