Mario Bussi

Professor Mario Bussi is a consultant at the Otorhinolaryngology Unit of IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele in Milan. He also collaborates with Casa di Cura La Madonnina.

After graduating in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Turin, he obtained, at the same university, his specialization in Otorhinolaryngology and Cervico-Facial Pathology. He then attended Université Pierre et Marie Curie in Paris, where he earned a university diploma in "Chirurgie Maxillo-Faciale et Chirurgie réparatrice de la Face".

He has completed several periods of study and training abroad, particularly at hospital and university centers in North America and France (including Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, Manhattan Eye, Ear and Throat Hospital in New York, Institut Gustave Roussy in Paris). His professional activity was carried out at Ospedale San Giovanni-Molinette in Turin and, since 2002, at IRCCS San Raffaele in Milan. His research activity in otorhinolaryngology focuses on head and neck tumors, demolitive and reconstructive plastic surgery, and immunological issues (in regional oncology, Waldeyer’s ring, and the upper airways).

During his career at the ENT Clinic in Turin and at IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele, he has performed 13,000 surgeries, including 11,000 as primary surgeon.

He is Past President of AUORL – Associazione Universitaria Otorinolaringologi, Past President of S.I.O-EChCF (Italian Society of Otorhinolaryngology and Cervico-Facial Surgery), and President of the National SIO Congress 2021.

Professor Bussi is the author of over 300 scientific publications in leading national and international journals.
