Dr. Raffaella Zanardi is a psychiatrist, psychotherapist, and Head of the Functional Unit within the Mood Disorders Unit at IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele Turro in Milan.
She graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Milan in 1990, subsequently obtaining specializations in Psychiatry (1994) and Clinical Criminology (2001), both with highest honors.
Her clinical activity is focused on the diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of patients with mood disorders, with particular attention to treatment-resistant forms of:
- major depression
- bipolar disorder
- anxiety disorders
She also treats adjustment disorders and promotes psychophysical well-being.
She manages integrated therapeutic pathways that combine pharmacological approaches, psychotherapy, and chronobiological and neuromodulation techniques.
At IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele Turro in Milan, in addition to coordinating the clinical unit, Dr. Zanardi:
- supervises rehabilitation pathways
- develops innovative therapeutic protocols, ensuring personalized interventions for each patient
At the same time, she carries out academic activity as a contract lecturer in psychiatry and psychology at Università Vita-Salute San Raffaele in Milan.
Her training includes clinical and research experience at IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele, the Center of Psycho-Neuropharmacology of the University of Milan, as well as numerous collaborations with international groups in Spain, Austria, England, Belgium, Greece, and Canada.
Dr. Zanardi has extensive experience in research on mood disorders and treatment-resistant depression, with a focus on psychopharmacology and biological, genetic, and immunological aspects.
She has coordinated numerous national and international clinical studies in the fields of psychopharmacology, pharmacogenetics, neurostimulation, neuroimaging, and biological biomarkers.
She is the author of more than 250 scientific publications in international and national journals and participates as principal investigator or investigator in several multicenter studies focused on innovative treatments.
