Riccardo Accetta

Professor Riccardo Accetta is Head of the Traumatology Unit at IRCCS Ospedale Galeazzi – Sant’Ambrogio and Adjunct Professor at the School of Specialization in Orthopedics and Traumatology of the University of Milan. He also collaborates with Casa di Cura La Madonnina. Professor Accetta is a nationally and internationally recognized expert in sports traumatology.

After graduating in Medicine and Surgery in 1979 from the University of Milan, he obtained his specialization in Orthopedics and Traumatology in 1984 at the same university.

Among his professional experiences:

• From 1983 to 1989, he served as full-time Assistant at the Orthopedic Clinic of the University of Milan at San Paolo Hospital in Milan.
• From 1989 to 1999, he was full-time Assistant Head at the Orthopedic Clinic of the University of Milan at San Paolo Hospital.
• From 2000 to 2003, he was Level I Medical Director at the Knee II Unit of the IRCCS Istituto Ortopedico Galeazzi in Milan.
• From 2004 to 2006, he served as Head of the Traumatology Unit of the DiPSON Department at the Galeazzi Orthopedic Institute.
• Since 2006, he has been Head of the Traumatology and Emergency Department Unit at IRCCS Istituto Ortopedico Galeazzi.

Regarding his teaching activity, he was lecturer in Orthopedics and Traumatology for the Nursing Schools of the National Cancer Institute of Milan (1980–1982) and for the Italian Red Cross Nursing School (1980–1985).

He served as Adjunct Professor at the University of Milan for the School of Specialization in Internal Medicine during the academic years 1995–1996 and 1996–1997, and as Tutor for pre-licensure training prior to the State Examination for medical practice during the academic years 2006–2010.

He was also Adjunct Professor at the University of Milan for the Degree Course in Medicine and Surgery, teaching the course on Medical and Surgical Emergencies during the academic years 2010/2011 and 2011/2012, and has been Tutor for residents in Orthopedics and Traumatology at the University of Milan since the academic year 2006/2007 to the present day.

Professor Accetta is currently Adjunct Professor at the School of Specialization in Orthopedics and Traumatology of the University of Milan.

He has more than 50 publications in prestigious national and international scientific journals and has participated as a speaker in numerous national and international congresses in Orthopedics and Traumatology.
