Ioana Sorana Savulescu

Dr. Ioana Sorana Savulescu is the Head of the Endocrinology and Diabetology Clinic at the Istituto di Cura Città di Pavia. She graduated in 2001 from the University of Pavia, where she specialized in Internal Medicine with a thesis titled “Follow-up of Gestational Diabetes: A Tool for Preventing Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus.”

Dr. Savulescu has dedicated several years to the accurate diagnosis and etiological assessment of diabetic patients. She organizes treatment pathways, defining care plans, metabolic goals, and personalized medical therapies. Additionally, she regularly conducts educational courses to assist patients in managing their condition and is actively involved in screening and prevention campaigns for diabetes. She has significant experience in managing therapies using insulin pumps (CGM, CSII – SAP) and diabetes during pregnancy.

Her expertise also extends to the diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up of thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal, and gonadal disorders, with a particular interest in the treatment and follow-up of thyroid cancers, pituitary disorders, and managing thyroid ophthalmopathy and thyroid conditions during pregnancy.

Dr. Savulescu is an organizer and speaker at various courses and conferences, including refresher courses for diabetologists and general practitioners in Pavia, focusing on hospital protocols for managing diabetes. Between 2014 and 2017, she served as a tutor and lecturer in the three-year specialization course in General Medicine at the University of Pavia, specifically in endocrinology and diabetology. Since 2014, she has been a Regional Counselor for AMD (Italian Diabetes Medical Association) in Lombardy.
