Biography
Dr. Aldo Saija is an ophthalmologist at the Ophthalmology Unit of Policlinico San Marco.
He graduated with honors in Medicine and Surgery in 1977 from the Ophthalmology Clinic of the University of Milan, where he also specialized in Ophthalmology in 1981.
Dr. Saija has worked in various hospitals in the Bergamo area, including the Ospedali Riuniti, where he served as assistant head physician from 1994 to 2010.
His hospital surgical activity has focused on cataract and vitreoretinal surgery. He has also been involved in ultrasound diagnostics, conducting research and producing scientific work in this field, particularly in the treatment and follow-up of ocular melanoma.
He has also worked as a consultant ophthalmologist for the Blind Services and the Child Neuropsychiatry Center of the provincial administration of Bergamo.
From 1980 to 1981, Dr. Saija taught ocular anatomy and pathology at the Professional Institute for Opticians, and from 1989 to 1996, he led a course on visual impairments and teacher specialization for compulsory school education.
He regularly participates in national congresses on ocular surgery and ultrasound diagnostics, presenting scientific papers.
