Biography
Dr Alessandra Pecoraro is a colorectal surgeon in the Colorectal Surgery Unit of IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele.
In 2014, she graduated in Medicine and Surgery from Sapienza University of Rome, where she specialised in General Surgery in 2022. In 2023, she obtained a PhD in Translational Medicine and Oncology from the same university.
She has gained significant national and international professional experience at recognised reference centres for colorectal and laparoscopic surgery, such as the Laparoscopic Surgery Unit of Hôpital Louis-Mourier AP-HP in Paris, France.
Within surgical pathology, her activity focuses on:
- oncological colorectal surgery;
- pelvic floor surgery;
- proctology.
Dr Pecoraro deals with the minimally invasive surgical treatment of functional pelvic floor disorders, such as rectal prolapse, as well as haemorrhoidal disease, perianal, pilonidal and rectovaginal fistulas, diverticular disease, malignant and benign neoplasms of the anal canal and rectum, chronic inflammatory bowel diseases and sexually transmitted diseases of proctological interest.
She actively participates in the department’s clinical and surgical research activities.
