Biography
Dr. Andrea Mainente is a vascular surgeon and Head of the Angiology and Vascular Surgery Service at Istituto Clinico San Siro in Milan.
He graduated in Medicine and Surgery with highest honors in 1994 from the University of Pavia, after completing a two-year internship at the Vascular Surgery Division of Policlinico San Matteo.
From 1996 to 2001, he attended the School of Specialization in Vascular Surgery at the University of Milan, obtaining his specialist diploma in 2001 with highest honors. During his training, he gained significant surgical experience, performing more than 150 endovascular arterial procedures as first operator and numerous venous surgery procedures.
In 2000, he also completed a four-month master’s program at the Instituto Cardiovascular de Buenos Aires under Prof. J. Parodi, with a focus on the endovascular treatment of aneurysmal and peripheral vascular disease and the use of cerebral protection systems during carotid angioplasty.
Dr. Mainente’s clinical activity is dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of arterial and venous vascular diseases.
In particular, he specializes in:
- instrumental diagnostics through color Doppler ultrasound of the different vascular districts;
- medical and surgical management of the main diseases of the vascular system.
Dr. Mainente has performed more than 2,000 procedures, including approximately 1,000 endovascular interventions, around 900 procedures for varicose veins, and about 500 traditional arterial surgeries.
He actively participates in national and international congresses in the field.
