Biography
Dr. Antonino Giulio Battaglia is an orthopedic surgeon at the Hip Surgery Unit I at IRCCS Ospedale Galeazzi - Sant’Ambrogio. He also collaborates with Palazzo della Salute-Wellness Clinic and Smart Clinic. In addition, he collaborates with the Hip Replacement Surgery Unit at Istituto Clinico San Siro. He also carries out his activity at Villa Erbosa Hospital in Bologna.
In 2016, he graduated with honors in Medicine and Surgery from Campus Bio-Medico University of Rome and, in 2021, specialized with honors in Orthopedics and Traumatology at the University of Milan.
Subsequently, he was awarded the EFORT scientific society scholarship at the “Clinique du Sport” in Paris, directed by Dr. Frederic Laude (Minimally Invasive Hip Surgery).
He collaborated on his graduation thesis regarding anterior cruciate ligament injuries with the FIFA center in Porto, Portugal, “Clínica do Dragão FIFA Medical Centre of Excellence”, later published in a scientific journal (KSSTA).
He received the award for best Poster presentation during the International Joint Meeting organized by SIdA (Italian Hip Society) and A.I.R. (Italian Revision Arthroplasty Association), held in Riccione from April 20 to 22, 2023, with the multicenter study carried out in collaboration with several international centers entitled: “Accuracy in acetabular cup positioning compared with the surgeon’s preoperative planning in primary hip arthroplasty using standard instruments and techniques.”
He is an active member of EHS (European Hip Society), SIdA (Italian Hip Society), and EFORT (European Federation of National Associations of Orthopaedics and Traumatology).
He mainly deals with hip and knee disorders (osteoarthritis, necrosis, femoroacetabular impingement, revision arthroplasty), prosthetic infections, knee disorders (meniscal and ligament injuries), foot and ankle disorders, regenerative cartilage medicine (PRP and Lipogems), and ultrasound-guided hip injections.
Dr. Battaglia has several scientific publications in indexed journals and has participated as a speaker at numerous national and international congresses.
He is also author of chapters in orthopedic books and monographs and collaborates on several orthopedic research projects, particularly concerning hip replacement pathology.
