Biography

Professor Daniele Andreini is Head of the University Cardiology and Cardiac Imaging Unit at IRCCS Ospedale Galeazzi-Sant'Ambrogio. He is also Head of the Sports Cardiology section at Palazzo Della Salute - Wellness Clinic.

In 1999, he graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Milan with highest honors and subsequently obtained Specializations in Cardiovascular Diseases (2003), Radiodiagnostics (2008), and a PhD in Clinical Methodology (2012) at the same university.

In 2010, he completed an international training period in Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging at Columbia University in New York.

He was University Researcher at the University of Milan from 2012 and subsequently, from 2019, Associate Professor of Cardiovascular Diseases. Since 2025, he has been Full Professor at the Department of Biomedical and Clinical Sciences of the same university.

Since 2003, he has been Staff Member of the Heart Failure and Clinical Cardiology and Cardiovascular Imaging Units at Centro Cardiologico Monzino in Milan. Since 2013, he has been Head of the Cardiovascular CT Unit and, since 2019, Head of the Sports Cardiology Center at the same hospital.

Professor Andreini is nationally and internationally recognized expert, serving as member of the Executive Boards of the main European and American Scientific Societies (Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography, European Association of CV Imaging, Euro-PCR) in the field of advanced cardiovascular imaging and non-invasive study of coronary atherosclerosis, with particular expertise in the following areas:

  • Coronary CT and Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging;
  • ischemic heart disease;
  • cardiomyopathies and heart failure;
  • sports cardiology.

In particular, he has extensive clinical experience in the fields of early non-invasive diagnosis of coronary artery disease, primary prevention of acute myocardial infarction risk, and diagnosis of cardiac diseases that may lead to sudden cardiac death.

He is author of more than 400 publications in prestigious international scientific journals, member of the executive steering committee of more than 15 international trials, and first author or co-author of numerous international Guidelines, including the European Society of Cardiology document on the management of cardiovascular diseases during the COVID-19 era.

Professor Andreini is member of the Editorial Board of the scientific journals “Eurointervention” and “Journal of Cardiovascular CT”.
