Biography
Dr. Ilaria Cetta is a neurologist at the Neurology Unit and the Headache and Facial Pain Center of IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele.
In 2018, she graduated with honors in Medicine and Surgery from Sapienza University of Rome and, in 2023, specialized with honors in Neurology at Vita-Salute San Raffaele University, where in 2026 she also obtained a PhD in Molecular Medicine, curriculum Neuroscience and Experimental Neurology.
During her training, she completed a clinical fellowship at Kremlin-Bicêtre Hospital, carrying out clinical and research activities in the neurological field. She also completed her education with advanced programs dedicated to headaches, including the School of the European Academy of Neurology, the Master’s program in “Diagnosis and Treatment of Headaches” at Campus Bio-Medico University of Rome, and international courses promoted by the European Headache Federation, International Headache Society, and the Italian Society for the Study of Headaches.
Her clinical activity is focused on the diagnosis and treatment of primary and secondary headaches, with particular expertise in episodic and chronic migraine. She also deals with:
- tension headache;
- cluster headache;
- trigeminal autonomic cephalalgias;
- secondary headaches related to medication overuse or cerebrospinal fluid dynamics alterations.
Her therapeutic approach includes advanced treatments such as anti-CGRP monoclonal antibodies, gepants, botulinum toxin, and interventional procedures such as greater occipital nerve (GON) block.
Her research activity is dedicated to the study of the central effects of anti-CGRP therapies through multimodal magnetic resonance imaging techniques, with participation in clinical studies and neuroimaging projects.
She is author of scientific publications in indexed journals and chapters in neurological books.
