Biography

Dr. Luca Tassinari is a vascular surgeon at the Vascular Surgery Unit of IRCCS Ospedale Galeazzi-Sant’Ambrogio. He also collaborates with Palazzo della Salute-Wellness Clinic and Istituto Clinico San Siro.

He graduated in Medicine and Surgery in 1998 with top marks (110/110 cum laude), after also obtaining a degree in Information Sciences. He continued his training by specializing in General Surgery in 2004, obtaining the qualification with honors (70/70). In 2011, he completed his professional training by obtaining the title of Vascular Surgeon.

During his training years, he worked as an on-call physician at the Casa di Reclusione di Milano-Opera prison (2002-2005). From 2005 to 2008, he was a consultant in Vascular Surgery at Istituto Auxologico Italiano in Milan.

From December 2006 to December 2025, he held the permanent position of attending physician at the Vascular Surgery Unit of San Carlo Borromeo Hospital, an activity he combined with extensive teaching experience: he was Tutor at the Vascular Surgery Residency Program from 2008 to 2015 and gave lectures for the Residency Programs in General Surgery and Vascular Surgery from 2007 to 2012.

Starting in 2009, he has been the medical referent for Diabetology within the Vascular Surgery Unit.

In 2015, he obtained the High Specialization Assignment in Vascular Emergencies at ASST Santi Paolo e Carlo in Milan, a role he held until 2025.

From a clinical and surgical standpoint, Dr. Tassinari has extensive experience with more than 1,000 vascular surgery procedures as first operator, particularly for arterial diseases involving the carotid, aortic, and upper and lower limb districts.

At the Wound Care Clinic, he is an expert in the treatment of:

  • complex lesions using VAC Therapy;
  • demolitive and conservative surgery for diabetic foot;
  • vascular graft infections.

He also deals with:

  • complex limb revascularizations;
  • anatomical and extra-anatomical bypasses in cases of infection or trauma;
  • creation of dialysis access;
  • treatment of varicose veins and their complications;
  • advanced dressings and techniques such as US/WJ Debrider for superinfected lesions.

His experience also includes advanced diagnostic activity, including CEUS for post-EVAR complications, ultrasound-guided thrombin injection for pseudoaneurysms, cerebral TcPO₂ for intraoperative monitoring of supra-aortic trunks, and peripheral TcPO₂ for screening of critical ischemia.

He also has expertise in the use of biosynthetic and cadaveric grafts for the replacement of infected prostheses.

He is the author or co-author of more than 20 scientific publications, including a book chapter dedicated to the use of echo-color Doppler in intraoperative and postoperative vascular assessments.

Since 1998, he has regularly participated in national and international congresses as attendee or speaker, maintaining continuous and ongoing training.
