Maria Chiara Verga

Dr. Maria Chiara Verga is a gastroenterologist at IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele and at the Digestive Endoscopy and Gastroenterology Service of Policlinico San Marco. She also collaborates with Smart Clinic.

In 2014, she graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Palermo and, in 2019, specialized in Diseases of the Digestive System at Alma Mater Studiorum University of Bologna. Both qualifications were obtained with honors.

In 2023, she completed the second-level Master’s degree ALOE (Advanced Luminal Operative Endoscopy) at Vita-Salute San Raffaele University in Milan.

Dr. Verga performs diagnostic and operative endoscopic procedures involving the upper and lower digestive tract, both elective and emergency, as well as outpatient consultations for gastroenterological conditions. The conditions treated include:

• gastroesophageal reflux disease,
• esophageal achalasia,
• dyspepsia,
• chronic gastritis,
• Helicobacter pylori infection,
• gastroparesis,
• celiac disease,
• diarrhea,
• irritable bowel syndrome,
• colon polyps,
• hemorrhoids,
• diverticular disease.

She is author of numerous international scientific publications and co-author of manuals and encyclopedia chapters in gastroenterology.

She is a member of the Italian Society of Digestive Endoscopy (SIED) and the European Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ESGE).
