Biography
Dr. Marta Puzzono is a gastroenterologist in the Gastroenterology and Digestive Endoscopy Unit of IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele directed by Professor Silvio Danese.
After obtaining a first-level degree in Biological Sciences in 2009 and a degree in Medicine and Surgery in 2014, both from Sapienza University of Rome, she specialized in Diseases of the Digestive System in 2019 at Sapienza University of Rome. In 2020, she began her PhD in “Genetics, Oncology and Clinical Medicine XXXVI” (GenOMec) at the University of Siena.
Dr. Puzzono’s clinical activity is particularly focused on hereditary gastroenterological tumor syndromes within the GASTRO PER ME program (GASTROintestinal PERsonalised Medicine), under the direction of Professor Giulia Martina Cavestro. This program is dedicated to the care of families with genetic mutations causing hereditary diseases such as: Lynch syndrome, classic and attenuated familial polyposis, Peutz–Jeghers syndrome and juvenile polyposis, Gardner syndrome, familial and hereditary pancreatic cancer, and familial and hereditary gastric cancer. In addition, the doctor performs outpatient consultations in general gastroenterology and is also involved in diagnostic and operative endoscopy of the upper digestive tract (esophago-gastro-duodenoscopy) and lower digestive tract (pancolonoscopy).
Dr. Puzzono is involved in research activity in the field of hereditary gastroenterological tumor syndromes, dedicating herself particularly to early-onset colon tumors (<50 years), for which she was awarded a research grant in 2020 at Vita-Salute San Raffaele University.
She is author and co-author of several publications in scientific journals of the field and constantly participates in national and international congresses in the sector.
