Stefano Petrillo

Dr. Stefano Petrillo is an orthopedic surgeon at the Prosthetic Surgery Center of IRCCS Ospedale Galeazzi - Sant’Ambrogio and at Smart Clinic Roma Villa Borghese.

He obtained his Master’s Degree in Medicine and Surgery from Università Campus Bio-Medico di Roma in 2012, where he also completed his specialization in Orthopedics and Traumatology in 2018.

During his specialization, he took part in several fellowships:

• research fellowships at the Hospital for Special Surgery and at the Leon Root Motion Analysis Laboratory in Manhattan, New York;
• clinical and surgical fellowships at:
• the Knee Surgery and Sports Traumatology Unit of IRCCS Humanitas;
• the Prosthetic Surgery Center of IRCCS Istituto Ortopedico Galeazzi;
• the Department of Reconstructive Joint Surgery, Arthroscopy and Sports Traumatology at IFCA in Florence.

During his career, Dr. Petrillo has received numerous awards, including:

• in 2015, the award for best “young session” presentation at the SOTIMI congress;
• in 2016, participation in the Zimmer-Biomet for Resident Fellowship;
• in 2017, he won and participated in the SIGASCOT-EFORT-FORTE fellowship;
• in 2018, he won and participated in the surgical and research fellowship at the Department of Reconstructive Joint Surgery, Arthroscopy and Sports Traumatology at IFCA in Florence, and in the same year participated in the Zimmer-Biomet for Resident International Fellowship.

At the IRCCS Ospedale Galeazzi - Sant’Ambrogio, Dr. Petrillo focuses on hip and knee prosthetic surgery, as well as sports traumatology.

From 2013 to 2018, he served as a university tutor for the Orthopedics and Traumatology course in the Master’s Degree in Medicine and Surgery at Università Campus Bio-Medico di Roma.

He is currently a member of:

• the Italian Society of Orthopedics and Traumatology (SIOT);
• the “Knee Committee” of the Italian Society of Arthroscopy, Knee, Upper Limb, Sports, Cartilage and Orthopedic Technologies (SIAGASCOT);
• a “Junior Member” of the European Knee Society (EKS).

He has been a reviewer for the Journal of Orthopaedic Surgery and Research and for Musculoskeletal Surgery Journal since 2013.

He is the author of more than 30 scientific articles published in journals with impact factor and has participated as a speaker in over 30 national and international congresses.
